This article reminds of two things I have learned. 1. Talk is cheap. Watch people's feet, see what they do. Words matter but when the tongue doesn't align with the feet, energy is sapped. 2. Hemingway said, 'never mistake motion for action.' Yes, you are busy. Question? Busy doing what?

Good content, powerful topic, interesting approach. Much of what I scanned when I read your piece, which felt way too long for me, was that you are hitting on a lot of symptoms when the core issue is a lack of shared purpose within each of these organizations. Without that shared sense of purpose, there can be no pursuit by a group of people for goals bigger than themselves, things that they can all join together and achieve as a group. That is what creates engagement, and common values are what create culture IMNSHO.
