Great post. I recall seeing both scenarios in play within one of my coaching client’s teams a few years ago. I distinctly recall a woman who’d turned down a promotion because she didn’t feel qualified but adding privately to me she also felt she didn’t have the patience to deal with all of the “strong male egos” she’d have to be managing in the new role. So sad.
